Commonly called micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, permanent eyebrows are one of the most popular and requested cosmetics treatments today. Eyebrows hold the highest face value; they express our emotions more dramatically than any other facial feature, and draw attention to our eyes – our most universal way of communication.
Are your eyebrows sparse due to over tweezing or a medical condition? Are you tired of applying eyebrow makeup every day? Permanent eyebrow makeup is a cosmetic makeup technique that uses pigmentation to enhance, alter and create artificial eyebrows. This procedure dates back to the 1930s, when it first became fashionable. The wonders of permanent makeup is that it is noticeable immediately, with the purpose of enhancing the overall features of the face. Results can replicate topically applied makeup, thus creating a natural result without the need to apply during your beauty routine anymore. Time is saved, and the tedious art of “drawing” in your eyebrows is eliminated. This relieves an immense amount of stress in the lives of people who are living with the consequence of alopecia totalis, chemotherapy, old age, disease, scars or vitiligo.
It is normal for the pigment to be darkest right after treatment, with a natural fade of the pigment after a few weeks. Touch ups to your new eyebrows is common, and is often a part of the process.
At Blades of Beauty, Charlene is qualified to do, both, microblading and using the machine method.
Microblading uses a hand tool which makes small slices into the skin and implants the pigment as it goes, creating a hair stroke.
Using the machine, this can also be replicated in a gentler way (perfect for those with more sensitive or thinner skin). With the machine, other affects can be created - a full powder brow, ombre brow, or even a mixture of a more defined tail and hairstrokes through the head of the brow. There are so many options available.
Charlene is also qualified to do eyeliner and lips. With the eyeliner, a softer effect of a defined lash line can be created, to a more dramatic, thicker liner with an optional wing. Both top and bottom rows of lashes can be lined depending on the customers need.
Lips can be tattooed to be very subtle. Perhaps you are missing a defined lip border? Peoples lips lose their definition with age, so something like this can be perfect for those wanting to get some definition back.
Others may wish to have a subtle blush of colour over their lips and those who love a burst of colour may opt for a permanent pop of pink, coral or red on their lips so they can add their lip gloss and go.
Creating the most natural colour to suit you best includes a strategic blend of pigment blends and needle configurations. During your initial visit for permanent makeup tattooing, Charlene, our permanent makeup specialist, will assess your skin tone, hair colour, and personal desires when deciding on the best (and most natural) pigment for your eyebrows, lips or eyes.
The most important part of it all is the shape that is created during your procedure. First, the shape of your face is assessed and measured – yes, the most flattering eyebrow has specific measurements in relation to your facial shape. Specific measurements are made to determine where the start, end, arch and thickness of the eyebrow will be. We call this the ‘Golden Ratio’. Once this is determined, adjustments can easily be made to perfect the recipe of your best possible eyebrow shape.
Lips are often not symmetrical and need this evened out. Sometimes people have unbalance top and bottom lips which also need adjusting.
Eyeliner is always worked to balance symmetry of eyes. We get used to 'our own symmetry' from looking in the mirror each day for years. We often don't see the imbalances. If we take a selfie and our image is flipped, we often think our face looks strange - this is why, because we see the photo from a different perspective.
The same happens if we take a portrait photo of ourselves and mirror each side of our face. We can sometimes look completely unrecognisable.
So you have decided to go for it?
First, book in your consultation. This isn't optional. A patch test is required and also a health questionnaire is needed to be filled in prior to your appointment. This is needed to ensure that any adjustments are made and also check you are suitable for the procedure.
Once the consultation is complete, your appointment will be scheduled. You will be given aftercare instructions along with the lotion to use.
A free top-up is offered to all customers as it is required to complete your procedure. This needs to be booked during the time frame stated to ensure optimal results. The top-up appointment is to check how the pigment has healed in your skin and any adjustments made to the colour. Permanent makeup is a two step process! Any further top-ups will be charged accordingly.
I look forward to meeting with you soon.
